ABOUT ME
With a background in fashion design, I’m Marloes van de Velde, a conceptual artist specializing in abstract embossed paper art. I’ve always been drawn to the tactile language of form, structure, volume and tension. Over time, this fascination shifted from garments to paper: a material that allows me to work more intuitively and conceptually. I now focus on creating embossed works that explore inner tension, emotional pressure, and identity.
I use abstract linework and reliëf to express what often remains hidden beneath the surface — subtle, shifting energies that shape who we are. Paper is both delicate and strong, and I push its limits to reflect the contradictions we carry within ourselves. My work is a quiet confrontation with the invisible calm on the outside, but full of movement beneath.
